Professor Michel Vetsuypens

Michel is currently Professor of Finance at the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Vetsuypens, who joined SMU in 1985, earned a Ph.D. degree from the University of Rochester. He teaches finance in the undergraduate, MBA,  and executive MBA programmes and in various open enrolment and custom executive education programmes  for numerous corporate clients.  A native of Brussels, Belgium, Vetsuypens speaks several languages.

His corporate executive education clients include ConocoPhillips, Anadarko, Valero Energy, Texas Instruments, PdVSA, KPMG, Saudi Aramco and others.

Current Research
Vetsuypens’ research interests include leveraged buyouts, investment banking, the venture capital market, initial public offerings, CEO compensation and stock splits.

Qualifications and Publications
Michel’s qualifications include a Ph.D from the Simon Graduate School of Business Administration, University of Rochester, 1985, an M.S from the Simon Graduate School, University of Rochester, an M.B.A from The Vlerick School, State University of Ghent, Belgium and a B.A. in Applied Economics from the Brussels School of Economics, Belgium.

His studies have been published in the leading finance journals and presented at numerous professional finance conferences.
