Mike Maffucci has over 20 years of experience in designing and delivering management and leadership programmes and believes that the most effective executive development programmes are focused on the future, aligned to real business challenges, and grounded in the operating realities of the participants. He has been involved in all aspects of leadership development from coaching, leadership development, 360, psychometrics, facilitation, programme design and consulting.
Mike believes that executive developmental initiatives should create an environment for “exploration and dialogue” as well as engage leaders on both an intellectual as well as an emotional level. Structured dialogues between the participants, their key stakeholders, external experts, and the executive management team that explore different points of views help participants gain a deeper understanding of the strategic environment, emerging opportunities, potential challenges, and the realities of operating in uncertainty and ambiguous operating environments.
Mike also believes in stretching the participants emotionally in order to help them gain a deeper awareness of themselves and their impact on others. Finally, through the process of “exploration & dialogue,” greater trust is built between participants and the executive DNA of the organisation is strengthened.
Mike has delivered programmes in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East as well as in North and South America. He has worked across a broad range of industries clients include Merck, Credit Suisse, Visa, Munich Re, McGraw Hill, Dupont, Railworks, Linde, Q-Tel and many more.
Mike has held roles as Graduate Training Manager and Head of Corporate Executive Programmes. Whilst he was the Global Head of Leadership Development and Talent Management at Deutsche Bank he developed and implemented the bank’s leadership model and talent management processes, introduced the bank’s global Leadership & Management curriculum and implemented the bank’s global executive coaching process for executives across the bank.
Mike also personally ran the firm’s most senior leadership development programme. Today, several of the programme’s alumni sit on the organisation’s current Group Executive Committee.
Before becoming an independent consultant for talent and leadership, and TLP’s lead associate partner in the USA, Mike has held senior leadership positions in the United States, Europe and Asia. A few of Mike’s recent projects include the development of a global learning strategy and operating model for a leading financial services firm as well as the design and execution of a strategic talent assessment for the operations division of a leading European bank.
Mike holds a BSc in Physics from Franklin & Marshall College. Several of the senior leadership and management programmes that Mike has designed and delivered have been written up as case studies by MIT Sloan Management Review, The Corporate Leadership Council and EQUIS.
